A quiet day.

I didn’t mean to start my day with two breakfast- just sort of stumbled into it. After putting a massive load of washing on in the laundromat, we had a leisurely breakfast at Cabanas,

Lots of seating just outside Cabanas and alongside the pool and Funnelvision (outdoor movie screen

I haven’t explained the ships restaurants situation very well. Cabanas, the buffet, was open for every meal. But for breakfast, the daily itinerary on our app would tell us which one of the other three restaurants was open for a sit down breakfast service, And another of those three restaurants would also be open for a sit-down lunch service.

Then for dinner we rotated to each of the three restaurants. So we dined at each twice. Two restaurants had entertainment that was different both nights, Tritons, under- the- sea-themed-is known for having really nice food, but there is no entertainment at its dinners. Tianas is based on the restaurant Tiana opened after the Princess and the Frog. The first night at Tianas there was live music. Flynn really like the trio playing at this restaurant as he would go and watch them play at French Quarter Pub. Tiana came out and sang and introduced herself. She And Louis the alligator came around to each table to say hello. The second night at Tianas there was the Madi Gras which was just my favourite of them all! So much fun.

Then Animator’s Palate featured lots of screens with the original sketches of many of our favourite Disney characters. The first night there we had the surprise of Mickey showing up and doing a little number with all the serving staff. The second night at Animator’s is highly anticipated. Tune in soon to see what happened! Other dining options: on deck 9, the pool deck food offerings include hot pizza slices, a DIY burger bar, salad bowl, fruit plates and wraps. Not to mention self serve ice cream cones. All these dining options came with the price of the cruise.

On our ship, the adults only non-inclusive dining option was Palo, serving up cuisine from Northern Italy on the very top deck with gorgeous views. We booked to go there on our last day, for their brunch.

Anyways, during my Cabanas breakfast, I was happily surprised when the Disney cruise app notified me that the wash cycle had finished. I popped the washing into the dryer and then we settled in at the theatre to watch Wish.

About the same time as the dryer let us know it was finished, Zac put a call out over the group chat via the Disney app for Tritons breakfast.

So I took one for the team and endured a plate of fresh fruit and berries and some coffee.

No trivia this morning, at a bit more of a relaxed pace, we met characters and had some magical photos taken. In others words, lots of lining up. Magical photos are where you pose the way the photographer tells you, and then magic is applied digitally in post-processing.

The line for Donald was huge, and tiring. In the US, apparently there are not the lines for the characters because people are coming onto the cruises straight from the Disney parks. But here, the lines were nuts and I did not usually line up at all. On this day, Maddy did the bulk of getting into the queues and we joined her when she messaged us that she had reached the front of the line. Thanks Maddy! ❤

Some of our magical photos. 🙂

Stand out character meets were Captain Hook, and Goofy. Goofy had oodles of energy and put in lots of time with people of all ages.

Rendered hungry again, we enjoyed a light lunch at Tiana’s of salad, chowder and steak.

Chowder not blogworthy

Today was a bit of a blah day as far as adventures, but still good. We met and chatted with Trent, the cruise director, at the adults-only cafe, Cove. He hails from Ballina and actually met his wife on a Disney ship when she was part of the entertainment team.

We  met Jeremy the magician at the cafe too, drank some iced coffee and played cards.

Dinner at Tritons was muted and that was fine by me. I cannot believe that 5 days in, we have gotten to the stage that ordering 3 dishes and a dessert for dinner is considered a light option!

The oxtail soup was quite forgettable, the crumbed eggplant rolled up with some kind of cheese was also not fabulous.

However, the baked lobster tail, expertly scooped out by the head of the serving team Alberto, came on a bed of rustic mash and when drizzled with the garlic butter/oil and squeeze of lemon it was very tasty.

Thanks Alberto!

The sugar free chocolate cheesecake was a nice note to finish on.

We raced to the 90s musical trivia at The Crown & Fin Pubwhere we did pretty good (33/40)for guessing twenty songs and their singers.

Then all eight of us finally managed to sit together in a half -filled theatre for the 8:30 show to watch the incredible and funny duo from Western Australia: Cameo Pascale. Hilarious, yet mind boggling feats of balance and dexterity.

Staying in the adult lounge section of the ship, we played a game show (basically herd mentality) at Azure and then stayed on to watch Jeremy perform his adults only  show which was just incredible. How did Jeremy guess everyone’s thoughts??? So clever. And at one point he included the entire audience, (so lots of random answers thrown into the mix) in a collective, mind boggling trick.

I finished the night watching karaoke- some good- some really bad, some quite drunk performers and onlookers.

And when we got to our room, Art had this towel- wonder waiting for us when we slumped into bed. Is it a penguin?
