The adventure has started!
We are overnight at Marrickville, only minutes from the airport. All of the of unfamiliar big city sounds are unnerving. There was a real sitcom moment when our local friend was giving me the real lowdown about how unsafe this suburb can be. I was very aware of the kids being in the next room- so through some deft sign language I communicated this and we embarked on a very staged conversation about how very ‘safe’ we both felt right about now. Kara came out after a bit and suggested that our friend (who is in several ads currently) give me some ‘acting lessons’. hehe.
The kids can hear the planes taking off every few minutes – which is sending their excitement levels through the roof.
The 7 yr old has only just stopped coming out and asking questions, despite me pretty much spelling out the Edinburgh military tattoo on his gnarly behind.
Tomorrow morning a friend drops us to the airport and then it is all about the airline food and the in flight entertainment for 15 hours!
I must try to remember not to cross my legs on the plane…….or should I actually CROSS my legs? Oh dear. I will google that in the morning!
(Mia our Little Traveller made herself well at home in balmy Marrickville as the picture shows. )
